Presentation of the collection of mathematical models and instruments for participants at the 2026 GAMM (Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics) Conference in Stuttgart – March 19, 2026

Prof. Jens Wirth and Katja Stefanie Engstler presented selected items from the department’s collection of models and instruments to the participants of the session “History of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics.” The GAMM 2026 session was chaired by Prof. Beate Ceranski (Institute of History, University of Stuttgart) and Prof. Jörg F. Wagner (Chair of Flight Measurement Technology, University of Stuttgart). In addition to providing a historical overview of the collection and highlighting particularly outstanding items, the presentation focused on the use of these materials in engineering and mathematics education at universities.

The collection of mathematical models and instruments is part of the University of Stuttgart’s collection network.
