Hands-on mathematics – CAMMP student laboratory successfully launched

September 15, 2025

The CAMMP (Computational And Mathematical Modeling Program) student laboratory at the University of Stuttgart got off to a successful start this year.

Around 200 students have already had the opportunity to learn about mathematics from a whole new perspective. School classes from the region and beyond came to the university and took advantage of the workshops on offer as well as the opportunity to tour the campus. This allowed the young people not only to immerse themselves in mathematical questions, but also to gain an impression of the university world. The workshops focused on mathematical modeling with the support of computers. The students learned where mathematics is used in everyday life – whether in the Netflix algorithm, in the image classification of traffic lights for autonomous vehicles, or in data encryption. The student laboratory thus delivers what it promises: mathematics becomes tangible, accessible, and relevant to the lives of young people.

The CAMMP team is now looking forward to the new school year and is excited to welcome more classes that would like to take advantage of this opportunity. Appointments can be arranged individually at any time.
