Kick-off event of the doctoral seminar

November 19, 2025

The doctoral seminar in mathematics began in the winter term 2025/2026 - Department of Mathematics

On October 22, 2025, the kick-off event for the department's new doctoral seminar, jointly organized by Prof. Benjamin Stamm and Prof. Martin Herdegen, took place. Nearly 20 doctoral students from almost all of the department's institutes were represented.

After a brief introduction to the goals and further course of the seminar, all participants were divided into four groups and given the task of building the tallest tower possible in 20 minutes using 30 spaghetti sticks, a marshmallow, and tape. Everyone enjoyed this team-building task, and the teams came up with some very interesting “solutions.” Afterwards, there was a social gathering with pizza and beer. The doctoral seminar will now take place every two weeks until the end of the summer semester.
