Staff Week SMILE in Chambéry

For the sixth time, the Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) hosted SMILE (Summer Modules for Intercultural and Language Education). A total of 164 participants from 26 European and non-European countries, representing 60 different universities, accepted the invitation to attend language courses and courses in intercultural communication.

Elisabeth Schaettgen, Sylvia Zur, and Katja Stefanie Engstler from the Department of Mathematics accepted the Staff Mobility program and traveled to Chaméry. As a course instructor, Ms. Schaettgen taught the Spanish language course together with a co-instructor from   .

"Making new connections and interacting with students from European and international universities was an important part of our time in Chambéry. We are all very different, but we are learning to understand and respect one another—as we did in the 'Intercultural Communication' course during SMILE Week."
