On September 20, 2021, Prof. (em.) Dr.-Ing. Dr. h. c. Wolfgang L.
Wendland celebrated his 85th birthday.
Prof. Wendland held the Chair of Applied Mathematics at the Institute for Applied Analysis
and Numerical Simulation (IANS) from 1986 until his retirement in 2004 and continues to be still
very active in the field of applied mathematics.
The Institute for Applied Analysis and Numerical Simulation and the Department of Mathematics
congratulate Prof. Wendland warmly and wish him all the best, especially good health.
