Guests at the Department of Mathematics

On June 3, 2024, Prof. Peter Benner, Professor at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, was invited by Prof. Bernard Haasdonk to visit Stuttgart for an in-depth scientific exchange. In addition to his numerous fundamental contributions to various aspects of model reduction, (numerical) linear algebra and control theory, Prof. Benner is nationally and internationally renowned for his interdisciplinary commitment, e.g. in the GAMM, the NFDI and the DFG Review Board for Mathematics.

Following bilateral talks with doctoral students, postdocs and professors at the Department of Mathematics and the SimTech Cluster of Excellence, an excellently attended colloquium lecture was held on "Learning nonlinear dynamical systems from data, with stability certificates", jointly organized by the Department of Mathematics and SimTech.
