Girls' Day Workshop Mathematical Crafts

April 29, 2024

An event organized by the Mathematics Department on the nationwide Girls' Day.

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the nationwide Girls' Day took place, where schoolgirls can get a taste of various companies. The Department of Mathematics was again represented with the workshop "Mathematical handicrafts" for schoolgirls in grades 5 and 6, organized by Dr. Friederike Stoll. First, all workshop participants - including those from other workshops - met in the packed lecture hall V47.02 to learn about famous female scientists from history. The girls then split up into the individual workshops. The participants in the mathematics workshop folded individual modules, which were then put together to form regular geometric objects, for example a cube and larger objects. The three hours flew by and the girls would have liked to have stayed even longer. Many thanks to all the helpers who worked so diligently.
