On Saturday October 13, 2018, this years Mathematics Day took place. This time 127 school students visited our university and participated in lectures on Neural Networks and The Wonderful World of Fractals. They could also choose two out of seven workshops tailored to their individual age group with topics ranging from set theory and continued fractions via a programming class concerning data analysis with neural networks towards graph theory and constructability with ruler and compass.
The topic Neural Networks was prepared by two of our teacher students, who organised the lecture and the accompanying workshop. The lecture on Fractals was given by Prof. Dr. Uta Freiberg from our mathematics department.
