The lecture entitled "A secure future with cyber security" was met with great interest by students and doctoral candidates from the Department of Mathematics. Ms. Veronika Klein and Mr. Kai-Oliver Kohlen from KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft gave a well-founded insight into the field of cyber security and showed protection goals, dangers and preventive measures for companies as well as private individuals.
The tasks of the cyber security team are characterized by a wide range. They range from analyzing the risk of a potential cyber attack, weighing up the probability of occurrence and expected impact, to searching for vulnerabilities and protecting the company's relevant core processes, as well as creating emergency scenarios.
Following the interesting presentation, Ms. Klein and Mr. Kohlen also answered questions about starting a career, team size and travel, as well as the requirements of the field of activity. Ms. Klein, who completed her degree in mathematics and computer science at the University of Stuttgart in 2022, explained in particular the technical integration of these areas into the professional field.
