Starting August 1, 2020 Jun.-Prof. Dr. Marco Oesting will join the Department of Mathematics at the University of Stuttgart. He takes over the new tenure-track professorship " Computational Statistics" (joint (junior) professorship of the Institute of Stochastics and Applications (ISA) with SimTech).
The main research areas of Jun.-Prof. Oesting are extreme value theory and statistics, spatial statistics and the simulation of stochastic processes and random fields. In addition to theoretical questions, he is concerned with applications in various fields, especially in climate and environmental sciences. In the winter term Jun.-Prof. Oesting will offer the master lecture "Stochastic Simulation I".The department welcomes Mr Oestling and wishes him a good start in Stuttgart.
