Online lecture "The root of the computer"

June 2, 2020 / IADM/Katja Stefanie Engstler

The Computer Museum of Stuttgart University explains within the lecture series "Mathematics and Physics between School and University" the roots of the computer

On the occasion of Konrad Zuse's 110th birthday on 22.06.2020, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in cooperation with the Computer Museum of the University of Stuttgart will publish a video as part of the lecture series "Mathematics and Physics between School and University". The recordings for this took place on 29.05.2020.

Under the title "The Root of the Computer", Klemens Krause from the Computermuseum Stuttgart presents various algorithms for calculating roots, which he then demonstrates on various mechanical machines and computers from his collection.

The lecture is also to be made available as an instructional video to teachers at schools and students. As a virtual lecture, it replaces an event originally planned for June 22, 2020 on the Vaihingen campus as part of our lecture series. The video was produced by Uwe Zimmat (HLRS) and Elke Peter (IADM) and will be available online from the planned date of the lecture.
