The lecture series Mathe Macht! presents areas of responsibility of mathematicians in practice. At the invitation of Mr. Robin Merkle and Mr. Cedric Beschle (IANS), Ms. Julia Langenbacher and Dr. Bernhard Hein from EY were happy to demonstrate the use of mathematical modeling in financial services, especially in credit risk modeling.
Dr. Hein gave the students an interesting insight into the banking world. He talked about risk types, regional regulation, the credit life cycle, and current projects. Using the power curve and the Gini coefficient, Ms. Langenbacher also shed light on the mathematical tools used in modeling and calibration. Questions about team structure, entry requirements or perspectives in consulting were topics in the subsequent discussions with students and doctoral candidates of the department.
